Credits = ECTS × conversion factor

ECTS = Credits ÷ conversion factor
The conversion factor isn't universal — it depends on your target institution's credit system. Confirm the exact factor with the receiving school before relying on it for transfer.

Why the conversion factor isn't always the same
ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) allocates 60 credits per full academic year, but local credit systems don't all follow that pattern. A US semester credit hour, a UK CATS credit, and a local Bachelor's credit at your target school can each represent a different amount of workload — which is why a single "correct" conversion factor doesn't exist.
Instead, most institutions publish their own accepted conversion factor for transfer purposes. This calculator applies whatever factor you enter, so you can test the number your target school actually uses rather than a generic estimate.
